    Mir fällt auf, dass die Aufregung um META's Anschluss an das Fediverse in den letzten Wochen beinahe vollständig eingeschlafen ist. Vielleicht Teil einer Gewöhnung, eine Verdrängungsmentalität oder einfach nur Akzeptanz des Unvermeidlichen? Unvermeidlich, da niemand Einfluss darauf hat, durch wem ein W3C Standard verwendet wird.

    Mir fällt auch auf, dass die verschiedenen Projekte sehr unterschiedlich mit diesem Ereignis umgehen. Die einen helfen META in's Boot, die anderen unternehmen Anstrengungen, um die Nutzenden vor META zu schützen, ohne gleich die Föderation zum Erliegen zu bringen.

    Ich bin jedenfalls sehr gespannt wie es weitergehen wird.

    @jakob Wenn ich es richtig verstanden habe, dann liegt die Herausforderung darin, dass die Last zeitlich nicht verteilt wird. Kommen neue Beiträge auf einer Masto Instanz an, dann erfolgt ein unmittelbarer der Zugriff auf die Ursprungsquelle. Und das tausendfach.
    Die Daten werden auch nicht einfach nur durch einen Proxy geleitet und zur Laufzeit angezeigt, sondern vollständig gecached. Du hast also immer eine tausendfache Kopie des Originals auf den Nodes herumliegen.
    Das ist gut, wenn du sie lokal ausliefern willst, ist aber natürlich fatal, wenn ein Beitrag von einer Person verteilt wird, der viele Follower hat und damit viele noch nicht bekannte Server animiert eine Kopie zu erzeugen. Kommt diese Kopie von dem sendenden Server, dann muss der unter der Last in die Knie gehen.

    Mastodon scheint gleichfalls ein Problem damit zu haben.

    Ich spreche es nur ab, weil ich in den letzten Stunden häufiger auf das Problem gestoßen bin und daher annehme, dass da eine Änderung vorgenommen wurde, die so u.U. nicht gewünscht war.
