There's a Windows games launcher for FreeBSD that's called Homura.

I know that I am late to the party, but I am trying out #bhyve with the EFI VNC framebuffer and it is awesome.

I have a patchset to update FreeBSDs audio/cdparanoia port to cdparanoia-III 10.2 (released in 2008) in the pipeline. I successfully ripped a few of my audio CDs and it seems to work fine. I will test it on a few of my more problematic CDs before submitting it, though.

If you feel adventurous, feel free to give it a try: https://github.com/blabber/freebsd-ports-wip/tree/master/audio/cdparanoia

    Time well spent for sure!

    TIL: capsicumizer

"capsicumizer is a sandbox launcher that imposes #Capsicum capability mode onto an unsuspecting program, allowing "sysadmin style" or "oblivious" sandboxing (i.e. no source code modifications, all restrictions added externally).

You just write AppArmor-esque "profiles" and capsicumizer takes care of sandboxing the applications."

@raichoo I haven't used either of them, but when it comes to live systems to try out #FreeBSD, there is also #NomadBSD.

At least the homepage seems to be way more lightweight.

I really wish the #ZFS on #Linux folks would just stop working on their port and join working on ZFS on #FreeBSD, just to get out of this #GPL mess and get appreciation for their work rather than constant flak.

This sentence right here shows why ASLR is a foundational and useful exploit mitigation:

"This creates a situation where it’s possible to build a dictionary of addresses for a given firmware, then repeatedly launch the exploit until we have brute forced the correct set of addresses."

We in #HardenedBSD use the PaX model for our ASLR implementation. We use the PaX model because it has a proven successful track record.
