The amount of progress we've been making on fusion power in the last year has been astounding. #science #physics #fusion
France runs fusion reactor for record 22 minutes- Michael Vogel likes this.

@hankg can i interest you in … umm … *remote fusion reactors*? with it, you can
*earn* billions, not burn* billions! not „in 20 years™”, but already today!
just let the sun do the heavy lifting with the fusion and the physics and those pesky atoms, lean back and enjoy the harvest 8 minutes later here on planet earth … -

@metaphil @hankg Of course solar and wind can replace a lot of other power plants. Also they can be used to decentralize the power grid. But I think that it's important to continue research for fusion, since this could be helpful under certain conditions - for example for spacecrafts or on other planets. -

@heluecht Space is for billionaires, imperialist war mongerers and extractivist resource exploitation. When we're done saving pur own planet (let alone surviving as a species) and completely bored we can take up the Star Trek sci-fi reenactment space stuff again.

@metaphil I see that different. I think that space is for science and research. And research can benefit from better engines a lot, especially for expeditions to the outer planets and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.
