Michael Vogel (heluecht@pirati.ca)'s status on Tuesday, 02-Apr-2024 13:21:16 CEST Michael Vogel @dansup @stux @tizian I don't think that "costs" is an argument with systems that are build by volunteers. Having a bunch of groups working at a similar problem ensures that the solutions will most likely be better suited for different target groups. Also each developer group can get inspirations by the stuff that other teams did. -
Tizian (tizian@mastodon.online)'s status on Tuesday, 02-Apr-2024 13:21:20 CEST Tizian @dansup @stux I'm loving your energy and do also advocate for diversity in the fediverse. However, doesn't this also inflate the development and maintenance cost since for every service their own apps for every platform has to be developed and maintained? Isn't this quite costly over time? :Blobhaj:

dansup (dansup@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 02-Apr-2024 13:21:21 CEST dansup Don't get me wrong, I love Mastodon and everything it's done for the fediverse
That being said, I don't want Loops to become the only short form video platform, or the only well known one
I'm working with @stux on his own short vid platform called #GoldFish and PeerTube to enable seamless interop
We're stronger and better together
There is no reason NOT to work with "competitors" because when you have the right mindset and goals:
You build for the people, and listen wisely.
