   @bobjonkman also the Vinilox-hosted groups must be renamed before Vinilox goes down, to avoid name conflicts. Unless this is no longer an issue due to !GNUsocial code fixes.
   There was a time when remote users just couldn't join groups on quitter.se b/c of the defunct identica group with the same name.

     @bobjonkman I tested my idea to rename an old Vinilox group to avoid a name conflict. It didn't work as I hoped though. A group admin can change the group name but the name-change didn't federate. I hope this won't lead into problems.

     @bobjonkman  you would be a worthy hoster of the new !GNUsocial group: if I recall correctly you have been a GNUsocial user already in the early days of Identica / Laconica :-)

     @bobjonkman  you are right. Leaving the old group and being only a memeber of the new group was enough to be able to post to the new group.
     
     Once there was a problem: people couldn't join quitter.se-hosted groups like \!tea, \!wordpress. When I checked from a remote account I noticed that that instance still tried to connect to the former Identica \!tea group, even though the proper "http://quitter.se/group/tea" URL had been pasted into the ostatussub text box. Lets hope we won't run into that problem.
