@anders there are various similar settings, but it's my belief that the ones that do what you ask are the "Clean database" checkbox under "Admin>Site>Performance" and the two lifespans underneath that.

@heluecht I don't know, but I'm surprised that you include the # in the hashtag (as %23). The examples seem to suggest the hashtag name is without the # symbol.
