@krt yes, this isn't really great. We know about this issue but this is something that has to be fixed upstream in mastodon so at the moment we have to wait for someone to implement this feature. I think you should find a long issue on github about this feature request.

We're now over 600 users!

The next release of Mastodon (1.4) will contain various bug fixes, most notably making push notifications via WebSockets more robust, and adding polling as a fallback. We'll upgrade soon after the release comes out (with a slight safety distance), and we hope that this will fix the update issues some of you were experiencing.

Other notable upcoming features:
- Filter out languages in timelines
- Muting of notifications of whole conversations
- Media gallery on profiles

In the last few minutes we've updated our instance to the new mastodon minor release v1.3.3. This release brings an update to the PuSH subscriptions service.
