@dangillmor Just these days I heard about the Chinese answer to Starlink, "Qianfan" where the first 18 satellites that had been launched are even brighter ... And they want to launch 14,000 of them.
China's answer to SpaceX's Starlink is also threatening astronomy

As much as I despise Musk for so many things, and as much as his Starlink satellites are ruining astronomy and creating vast space-junk hazards, he's only partly to blame.

The absolute refusal of government to see what was happening, and stop it before it was too late, is the bigger problem.

And that continued refusal to lift a finger is encouraging orders of magnitude more satellite launches by Musk and other space grabbers.

It's insane, and we will regret it, probably too late.
