    IMO the only safe domestic plug/socket designs are:

    Type G (UK), moulded.
    Fused, earthed, insulated so you can’t touch live mains, can support its own weight.
    Socket switched & shielded until Earth inserted.

    Type F (Schuko), moulded.
    Earthed, shrouded socket so you can’t touch live mains (unless you try reeeally hard), can support its own weight.

      @mattgrayyes The only problem with UK plugs is with devices that use plugs with faked fuses, I think.
