Matthias (xhr@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 04-May-2019 19:19:46 CEST Matthias Wow, I am a bit overwhelmed by the current reactions in my timeline about the recent #Firefox disaster.
Yes, it sucks. Yes, this shall not happen. Never. There is no good excuse.
But, hey changing now towards a browser developed by the largest advertiser and tracker on the planet is not the right solution. They already dominate large parts of the web so helping them by leaving the last Browser bastion is not a smart idea!

zigg :rose_pride: (zigg@queer.garden)'s status on Saturday, 04-May-2019 13:21:35 CEST zigg :rose_pride: Setting a reminder to remind all my #Firefox-using friends to turn extension signature checking back _on_ in a few days.
It’s not a great thing to leave turned off. Malicious extensions are already rampant and I bet we see an uptick after this. 😑
If you’re a trusted voice for your friends I suggest you do the same.

– HTML5 ping attributes can be used to track people if they click a link (<a href=… ping=…>) by sending POST requests to an arbitrary amount of hosts
– tracking is possible without any JavaScript, or Cookies
– Steve Gibson talked about it in Security Now 709: https://mastodon.at/@infosechandbook/101899819296611698

lemming (lemming@chaos.social)'s status on Tuesday, 08-Jan-2019 23:45:16 CET lemming Using #Firefox? Discovered some nice about-pages via about:about.
You should maybe check about:studies, about:serviceworkers and others if you're interested in what your browser is doing in background.
For exmaple I had to disable an unwanted serviceworker.

ClaudioM (claudiom@mastodon.xyz)'s status on Tuesday, 01-Jan-2019 00:48:14 CET ClaudioM #Mozilla, please don't do this. We don't want this. It might not be an "ad" but it makes you look bad nonetheless. Especially now given that #Firefox is the only non-Chromium browser out there, you need not alienate your user base.
Here's hoping this gets boosted enough. 😞

Linux Walt (@lnxw48a1) (lnxw48a1@nu.federati.net)'s status on Saturday, 01-Jul-2017 19:42:42 CEST Linux Walt (@lnxw48a1) I'm looking for something that can !self-host browser bookmarks for #Firefox, #Palemoon, #Chromium, #Opera. Is there a server + extensions that does this? Years ago, I used #Xmarks, but they were owned by the same company that owns #LastPass, so I'm not confident that my bookmarks would be private. (If I wanted public bookmarks, I'd use whomever bought #Del.icio.us.) -
